“A thriving hub of fun, meeting and relationship building within the heart of the local community; demonstrating God’s love for people by listening and responding to their needs”
The centre is on the site of the original St Paul’s Church mission hall which moved across the road when St Luke’s Church was constructed towards the end of the nineteenth century.
Having most recently been the offices of Head’s building contractors, St Luke’s were invited to purchase the building several years ago.
After prayerful consideration, the PCC felt clearly that this was part of God’s plan for the church and thanks to generous contributions from the church family, the deposit was found and the site purchased.
The building is old and has been a state of considerable disrepair, which has presented quite a challenge to the team leading the refurbishment work. However in its own way it is beautiful, inspirational and already one of the best looking buildings in the street!
The PCC have been clear from the start that the centre is for the benefit of the community, both in the sense of our own church family and community at St Luke’s but also for the people of the parish which we serve.
The priority for the next 6 months is to get the centre open, let you and God in and help us as a church to begin to capture the huge and exciting opportunity the centre represents. Most of all, the centre is going to need you with whatever time, skills and enthusiasm you can bring. We’ll be updating this information more over the coming weeks and months!
