Bite size is a small group which meets monthly to discuss ‘bite size’ pieces of scripture led by Gordon and Karen Mackley. The passages are a mix of Old Testament and New Testament with parables, psalms and stories all included. In the past we have covered: The Good Samaritan, The Samaritan Woman at the Well, The Beatitudes, Psalm 22, Jacob wrestling with God, Balaam’s Donkey, The Medium of Endor, Ecclesiastes 3 (and many other subjects besides).
Bite size is based on discussion within the group rather than any form of talk or sermon but the passage is notified in advance (in ‘Connect’) and some notes about the passage are always provided at the meeting. It is suitable for those with little Bible knowledge as well as those with more. We have varied the format by incorporating a drama (Balaam’s Donkey) as well as a very moving short video (Psalm 22) but there is always time for discussion.
Bite siez is on a Thursday evening (normally the second Thursday in the month) and meets in the Miss Coppen Room (which is adjacent to the main Church Hall) at St. Luke's with a 19:45 start and 21:00 finish. Tea/Coffee and biscuits etc. are provided.
Each discussion is free standing so there is no commitment to come regularly (although some people do). Anyone is welcome to come along to any meeting.
Attendance varies but is normally around 6 -10 although one meeting was 16.
