Parking Information

Our church purpose statement is ‘Here to love God and people’; we want to be good news to those who visit us, good news to our world, town and our community. We have a problem, it’s the problem of growth and that growth is continuing.

With more people come more cars, this creates problems for us as a church and also for our community. When the church was built in 1887 many of the surrounding houses would not have existed, but we now share this area with hundreds of residents.

Living as a neighbour of St. Luke’s can seem hard at times and not being able to park by their house doesn’t make them feel like we are good news, especially if they are returning from a shopping trip, trying to get babies and prams from the car or returning from shift work. On the whole we have fantastic neighbours who appreciate the pressures we are under and we are thankful for their understanding.

For this reason we have decided to take positive steps to reduce this burden on our neighbours, we want them to know that we care. Consideration for their feelings is a small part of showing them we care. Above is a map of the streets closest to our church, any areas marked in red are not to be used by church members and visitors, please leave these areas free for our neighbours

We will make this announcement in services regularly and be asking anyone parked in those areas to move their car immediately, we feel sure though that this will only be necessary on the odd occasion.

There are several car parks in the surrounding area including Sittingbourne Road and Brewer Street. On behalf of the family of St. Luke's we thank you in advance for showing our neighbours that we care, through this small act of consideration.
