"In his classic book ‘Wild at Heart’,
John Eldredge said that all little boys are born
seeking three things: a beauty to win, a battle to
fight and an adventure to live.
Last month we looked at the issue of winning the
beauty in our consideration of 'Looking for Love'
and attempting to address the issue of sexual
ethics. This month, we are looking at 'Living the
Adventure'.
I believe that the longing for adventure
in the hearts of all human beings is actually being
twisted and corrupted by a cheap diet of instant
excitement. This is especially fed by the phoney
crisis constantly cropping up on the daily diet of
soaps. We need to recover what it truly means to
live the adventure.
During the Sunday evenings this month we will be
studying the roles of prophet, priest, king and
warrior. In the mornings we will be looking at some
of those roles as they reflect spiritual gifts and
disciplines which are common to all of us."
